y’all are going to be smitten with this couple and this wedding! first, i just have to say, this adorable couple met in high school in a ballroom dance class.  i mean…presh. second, they have great style, vintage & DIY sweet, but not over the top. and third, they are on the path to serve others, he is going to med school and she is getting her masters in social work!
okay, the wedding: imagine the loveless barn in nashville/music city usa, vintage handkerchiefs, peach + sage, mason jars, mouth-watering southern biscuits with lick your lips jam plus summer twinkle lights! are you in love yet?! when working on margaret & wes’s save the dates, we wanted it to express their rustic charm while focusing on the happy love birds. and as most brides get into wedding planning,  you figure out that you need to spend $$ in your favorite places and save in others. save the dates are a perfect place where you can keep costs down, while keeping style up! we did this by having the card digitally printed AND making it a postcard! you save on printing and on stamps. everybody wins!
AND we can’t forget to mention the adorable photos!!!! these were taken by the talented mary lauren, check out her site! i HIGHLY highly (as in make it a non-negotiable) recommend couples getting engagement photos. hubs and i have more engagement photos in our house than wedding pics. we were more relaxed, in everyday clothes, but with a little help from your camera person, you can capture your love forever!  and whether you put your photo on the save the date or not, get the engagement pics taken. i promise you won’t regret it:)
stayed tuned for photos from this sweetheart wedding, the hatchprint meets feminine invitations AND a note from the bride!

Sugary Sweet Sixteen!
this past summer i got the chance to work with a mother/daughter pair to come up with a super sweet sixteen bash! do you know those families where you walk in their homes and you know it is full of love? well, the myers family is exactly that, full of love and warmth! it was a joy to work with tina & carolyne to come up with a design that would be feminine without being over the top girly, playful and sweet all at the same time! i love the pink and white stripe border with the bunting on the invite. and my absolute fav part was the tag we tied to the invite, tina came up with the phrase that fit the bday girl perfectly, ‘she’s always been sweet, but now she’s sixteen.’  don’t worry, i encourage you to copy that phrase for your loved one’s bday too:) we tied the tag with pink and white divine twine like a present on the front and we included a cute mini teal envelope that told guest to bring something specific for a family in the process of adopting rather than a present for the bday girl. it doesn’t get much sweeter than that!
the party was held in the myers back yard, full of twinkle-y lights, sparklers, pink tables by the pool, a super fun dj, a dance party, cotton candy and candy bags to take home as party favors that said ‘how sweet it is to be loved by you.’ love it. love it. love it. pics of the bday girl and some of her cutey pa-too-ti friends (and parents!) below.
and another part of my life that i get to enjoy, besides paper lovelies, is these gals. i have the pleasure of having most of these cuties in my small group bible study, which we call d’s.  short for d-group, which is short for discipleship group. there was not pics of all 22 of the girls in the group:) but these are a few! it brings me joy to get to know these girls hearts, walk with them through life - the good, the bad & the drama. …… and i’m positive my friends and i did NOT look that cute at my 16th bday, i’m remembering a very large frizzy head of hair with braces, a too big baggy shirt and shorts that were just not cute…oh, the 90’s:)

showers and showers!
hope everyone is safe from the storms this afternoon. it seemed like i should do a post about showers while sitting inside waiting for the showers to pass through! this time of year, weddings are a many….and with weddings, come showers - bridal showers, stock the bar showers, couples showers, afternoon teas, bagels with the bride, the list goes on and on. the invite above was one where i sketched a lane of trees - lovers lane if you will:) it was a simple shower for a bride who is sweet, au naturel and makes everyone feel comfortable in her presence. we wanted an invite that reflected her personality….how do you think we did?
if anyone is in need of shower invites, please email me!  i now have a pdf book of all my invites which can be emailed so you can look through my designs in the comfort of your own home! or i am glad to set up a meeting so you can see and feel the invites, which is always fun! hope you all enjoy staying in tonight. hub and i are making pizza with some of our dear friends. cozy night, good friends and homemade pizza. love.

SAVE THIS {stickin’ cute} DATE!
happy friday all! save the dates are cuter than ever, like most things in the wedding world. photo or no, they are still way more creative and meaningful these days. one of my favorite things about working with brides is getting a little glimpse into their story and then taking those special moments and translating them into the design. maggie and mason (i know the names are ridiculously cute together, sounds like a romantic comedy) are working with the gals at Big Events for their big bash and the way we teamed up.  i love how these hatch-show print style cards turned out, my all time favorite line of this card is… ‘where it was love at first laugh’. how cute, right! the bride said it captured them perfectly!  and we had to make sure we added their pup - tangerine - to the envelope! although hub and i don’t own any pets, most of my friends do and i know that a pup is truly part of the fam. we wouldn’t want to leave their fun-loving four legged creature out of the fun.  and finally to top off the cards, they were mailed around valentine’s day…i mean. how cute! thanks to maggie and mason for using me to design these! happily ever after to you!
Here is a quote from an email I got from Maggie after she sent out the cards:
“Thank you so much for the perfect Save the Date card!  I’ve already received SO many compliments saying it’s the “greatest save the date card ever”, “so cute and original”, and “simply adorable!”
Thank you for making this such a special memory for Mason and I.  We are thrilled!”
i have to admit getting that email made my day, or lots of days:) happy weekend!
e
p.s. the photos above are drafts of the save the date and you may notice that there are two misspellings, but you can be confident that these did NOT go out! we correct all designs in the proof stage:)

Lavender Inspiration Board
if you are like me, then you are rea-ed-dy for spring! i know we haven’t had much of a winter here in nashville, but i’m a summer girl. i would much rather be in flip flops than running from the house to my car and hunching over my steering wheel as if it will help me warm up faster. so, spring inspiration it is! the invitation above was one i did for those sweet southern gals in yazoo city. i pulled together some pics from bhldn (heart everything) and pinterest (which i JUST signed up, uh-oh). enjoy this fresh soft palette and dream of a spring luncheon, with all your closest friends, smelling the relaxing lavender scent and tasting some sweet milk and macaroons all the while wearing the cutest white shift dress ever! dreamy…..
happy tuesday all!

Kimberly and Brandon!
What do you get when you put together classic style, the hermitage hotel and a super sweet & smart couple…a timeless wedding! A wedding that you can look back on for ages to come and everything will still be in style and look perfection! Ahhh….I love it. And although I heart all things vintage, classic clean style is so refreshing!
The invites above are from two different weddings, each bride customized their invites by adding their own twist to begin each celebration off just right! I love working with brides, designing invites to be unique and speak to each couples style and story! The second wedding will be featured soon…picture Louisiana oak trees, outdoors in the fall and southern style!
Thanks to Zach Goodyear for the beautiful photos below from Kimberly and Brandon’s happily ever after! For more pics click here.

Happy Valentine’s Day to me (and you)! I know I’ve been MIA for a month(ish) but I’m back and ready to show and tell…
We got through the cray cray holiday season (that’s slang for crazy for my older/wiser readers), jumped right into high wedding season and we are in the middle of selling our condo and buying a house plus many more trying things that I won’t bother you with:) But all that to say, Happy V Day week to me! Okay, so here is how I found out I was in SL weddings mag.
One day I was meeting with the sweetest bride and she said, ‘I saw your designs in Southern Living!’ and I looked around the room as if someone new appeared. I pointed and said ‘ME!?’ She looked a little confused and said ‘Yes!” I was shocked that I was published in a magazine and she was shocked that I didn’t know:) Well…after much calling around and the help of some great friends (kathryn & alice) I got the magazine in my hand and it was true!!! Two of my designs had been featured in Southern Living Weddings magazine! It is a two page spread on the art of the printed letter - and I’m on two of the four pages (as seen above). Well, I do declare, little ol me in a magazine…but I think this will not be the only time you see me in a magazine, or at least I hope not! I’ll be sure to keep you posted. Thanks to the sweet bride Shaun and the fine ladies at Big Events for the heads up!
Check back in often, I have many great things planned for 2012! There will be posts of some delightful snapshots from real weddings. I’ll feature their big day plus the invites that started it off just right! Plus some adorable bday parties and baby announcements that are hot off the press!
Give those you love a big hug today!
xoxo!

on a scale of easy peasy to pulling your hair out…where are you on getting a good family photo? i have to say one of my favorite parts of the holiday card season is seeing every one’s family photos. whether beautifully taken by a local photographer or by mom or dad who are trying with all their might to get EVERYONE to look at the camera and smile:) the above cuties are my sis (B) and her sweet SWEET fam, whom i heart with my whole heart. (can’t wait to spend thanksgiving with them!!!!). she sent me some pics for her christmas card and although very cute, not christmas card worthy. so what makes a photo christmas card worthy? 1. make sure you can see every one’s face (unlike the top left pic) 2. good lighting. dark photos do not print well even when doctored up in photoshop 3. they can be casual, taken in a backyard or sitting around the house after the turkey meal. sometimes the best time to snap a shot is when kids are relaxed and not forced to stand and say cheese. 4. you don’t all have to match, we can always make a photo black & white, its a magical way to make everything seem like it goes together:)  5. take pics that really portray your family! like the top two right pics, we can always do a collage of photos to display you and your little (or not so little) munchkins. and finally 6. look at my design selections and pick out a card for your family photo, then it will be christmas snail mail ready!
hope you all have a happy thanksgiving and enjoy lots of good food, great conversations, laughter, unnecessary eye rolls at your family and hearts full of gratitude. i know life is unbearable at times, stressful, and all you want to do is take a nap but we all have many things to be thankful for - let’s take some time to really count our blessings!
